January’s Employees of the Month at Strategic

Every month, the employees at Strategic Communications are given the opportunity to acknowledge exemplary colleagues within or outside their department. Three individuals were chosen by their coworkers for their commitment to customer service, perseverance in the face of challenges, and can-do attitudes!

Susan Sandidge | Sales Administrator

• How long have you worked for Strategic Communications?

Started July 2018

What was your background prior to working for Strategic Communications?

Started selling white box PC’s at Central Coast Computers in Caramel-by-the-sea, CA in 1993 and we had a x286 doorstop, I’ve also worked for Hewlett Packard and ePlus. Non-IT related, I managed 7 HOA’s at one time, was a federal contract manager for a dental water cleaning company (yes, it’s a thing) and I was a licensed insurance agent in 27 states.

What aspect of your job do you find most rewarding or fulfilling?

Finding new vendors and products in the IT world.

What is the best career lesson you’ve learned so far?

Be on time and listen to the customer.

Outside of work, what are you passionate about/enjoy doing?

European board games, gardening – I try and grow some of the hottest peppers available (last year was Carolina Reapers and Ghost Peppers), brewing beer/mead/cider and crafting (making beaded jewelry, crocheting, sewing and mixed media).

What is your current favorite TV Show, Podcast, or Book that you’d like to share with the world?

TV: RuPaul’s Drag Race, Book: The Expanse series, Youtube Series: Hot Ones

What is something that people may not know about you?

My 1964 Ford Thunderbird should finally be restored this year. It was my primary car in California, Washington and Colorado (until it snowed!) I had the engine rebored years ago from a 292 to a 308 and it’s finally time for the interior to be replaced and get it back on the road at 9 miles a gallon.

• How long have you worked for Strategic Communications?

It will be 22 years in May

What was your background prior to working for Strategic Communications?

I attended High School where I focused on Industrial Electronics. I worked in a co-op program as an electrician my Junior and Senior year

What aspect of your job do you find most rewarding or fulfilling?

Working with the Strategic team on projects from the design phase to the completion

What is the best career lesson you’ve learned so far?

With multiple tasks, always start with the easiest task, once those are complete work on the difficult task

Outside of work, what are you passionate about/enjoy doing?

Designing/building speakers and smoking food

What is your current favorite TV Show, Podcast, or Book that you’d like to share with the world?

Ozark

What is something that people may not know about you?

I worked at a cemetery all 4 years of high school doing lawncare and digging graves


Vernon Clark | Project Manager

• How long have you worked for Strategic Communications?

I am going on 3 years.

What was your background prior to working for Strategic Communications?

I have been doing telecommunication installations all over the US, and have even done a major fiber job in Iraq.

What aspect of your job do you find most rewarding or fulfilling?

When customers are pleased with the install.

What is the best career lesson you’ve learned so far?

To always be on time.  All my life I was raised that if you were not 15 minutes early to work you were late, and I live by that still to this day.

Outside of work, what are you passionate about/enjoy doing?

My family, fishing and when I can get out I enjoy golf, even if I’m not any good at it.

What is your current favorite TV Show, Podcast, or Book that you’d like to share with the world?

I don’t really have a favorite, right now I’m watching Longmire.

What is something that people may not know about you?

I am the youngest of 6 kids (My brother is the oldest, 4 sisters, then me).
