2/13 Fat Tuesday – Mardi Gras Day or Fat Tuesday is the last day of the Carnival season as it always falls the day before Ash Wednesday, the first day of Lent. Join us for some King Cake and New Orleans style food to celebrate. Tradition dictates that finding the baby in your cake symbolizes luck and prosperity, and the finder becomes the “king” or “queen” of the evening.
2/14 Valentine’s Day & Ash Wednesday – Valentine’s Day is celebrated on February 14, and we are ready to shower our significant, family & friends others with love and tokens of our affection. Ash Wednesday is 6-weeks before Easter Sunday. Observed by Christians as a holy day of fasting and praying, Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of the season of Lent.
2/17 Random Acts of Kindness Day – For those of you that wish you could change the world, Random Act of Kindness Day, on February 17, is just for you. One can never go wrong with kindness, and there can never be too much of it. Every small act of kindness is significant. It may seem like it doesn’t accomplish much but, just like the domino effect, one act of kindness can lead to more positive outcomes. Don’t hold back from uplifting others with compliments and compassion on this day.
2/19 President’s Day – Every third Monday of February (February 19) we celebrate Presidents’ Day in all its patriotic glory. There are fantastic deals on home furniture and appliances on Presidents’ Day, so keep a lookout for that throughout the week. Fun Fact – President Lincoln’s height was 6’4″, making him the tallest president ever. Note, our offices will be open, but this is a federal government holiday.
2/20 National Love Your Pet Day – On February 20, we celebrate National Love Your Pet Day, a day to embrace one special trait that makes us human: our love of our pets! Use the #YourStrategicPets and post those photos!
2/29 Leap Day – February is the shortest month in the calendar year, glad we get an extra day! Leap days are needed to keep our calendar in alignment with the Earth’s rotation around the Sun. Fun fact – Women in Illinois arrested men for being single on leap day in the 1940s.
