Every month, the employees at Strategic Communications are given the opportunity to acknowledge exemplary colleagues within or outside their department. For the month of March, three individuals were nominated by their coworkers for their commitment to customer service, perseverance in the face of challenges, and can-do attitudes.
Carrie Maynard| Accounts Receivable
Carrie Maynard joined Strategic Communications 6 months ago as accounts receiving and has already gone above and beyond. She attended undergraduate at the University of Kentucky, receiving a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and Economics. The most rewarding part of her job is being able to do what she loves every day at a place she enjoys! When it comes to career advice she admits “it takes some time to find what you are looking for (after colleges), and there are stepping stone to get you where you are going.” When she’s not at work, you can find her watching Two & A Half Men or planning a return to the Bahamas.
Tom Cook | IT Helpdesk Administrator
Tom Cook joined Strategic Communications 5 months ago. He holds decades of previous experience working in IT in a variety of industries. A true people person, he finds the most fulfilling aspect of his job working with Strategic’s staff to solve their technology-related issues. Tom likes to live by three career guidelines – Keep copies of everything, don’t tell everyone everything you know, (and most importantly) do the best that you can every day! When Tom isn’t at Strategic you can find him obsessing over online scans of Marvel Universe Comics, playing with his drones, watching “Princess Bride”, or any of the “Lord of the Rings” movies. Some fun facts about Tom include that he is great at crafting things out of wire and all three of his children were born in Germany only 11 months apart!
Sam Young | Audio Visual Technician & Integrator
Sam Young has worked at Strategic for over a year, bringing over a decade of experience in AV Installation and Communication to the team. Sam holds current certifications from OSHA, Biamp, Crestron, and Atlona. She is well versed in troubleshooting and install for commercial overhead audio, digital signage, conference rooms, and video display walls. As a lead technician, Sam likes to lead with “humility over gatekeeping” and committing to self-betterment through ongoing field education.
